Suzdal Suzdal is a Russian town, which is located at the distance of 216 km to north-east of Moscow and 26 kilometers from the city of Vladimir, on the Kamenka River. Suzdal is a popular tourist attraction and it forms part of the Golden Ring. The most popular sights are the Suzdal Kremlin, the Monastery of St. Euthymius, The Rizopolozhensky Monastery. The towns of Suzdal and Vladimir are enlisted in the UNESCO's World Heritage List.

Suzdal Kremlin
Suzdal Kremlin is the heart of the city and it was built in the 10th century. It is situated in the southern part of Suzdal. The Kremlin preserved a few churches and the ensemble of pontifical yard with the ancient Cathedral of the Nativity which is considered to be one of the World Heritage Sights. Pontifical chambers are an architectural complex formed as home for church lords. A museum and a restaurant are located now in the chambers. Nikolskaya Church is in the western part of the Kremlin. The church of Nicolas is a nice example of ancient wooden constructions.

The Monastery of St. Euthymius
Suzdal The monastery was founded in the 14th century. The main cathedral was built in the style of the Grand Duchy of Vladimir-Suzdal. Its interior contains restored frescoes of the school of Gury Nikitin from Kostroma, dating from 1689. The tomb of Dmitry Pozharsky lies by the cathedral wall. The monastery also contains a prison, built in 1764, which originally housed religious dissidents. The prison was still used during the Soviet period. The prison now houses a museum devoted to the military history of the monastery.                                                                                                                

The Rizopolozhensky Monastery
The Rizopolozhensky Monastery is situated on the bank of the Kamenka River in the centre of Suzdal. Stone constructions appeared in the monastery in the 16th century. One of the earliest buildings is Rizopolozhensky Cathedral (1520-1560). The most interesting sight is the two-pavilion Holy Gates which were the main entrance to the monastery. There is also the Prepodobenskaya bell tower (1813-1819) on the territory of the monastery.
