Moscow metro (Moscow underground or Moscow subway or Moscow tube) is the second largest metro system in the world after the one in Tokyo.
Moscow metro is famous for the decorations,

The first project of Moscow metro was worked out in 1901. The engineer P. Balinsky suggested that the districts of Moscow
should be connected with an underground system of trains. The next projects appeared in 1925 and the first line was opened on

The construction of metro was stopped due to the beginning of the WW2.
The metro stations were used as bomb-proof
shelters. After the war the construction of a circle line was started.
