Kremlin & Red Square
Moscow Kremlin is the center of the City.
Nowadays the Kremlin has 20 towers and hosts numerous architectural monuments on its territory, including
the Cathedrals of Assumption, Annunciation, Archangel, Palace of the Patriarch (the head of Russian church),
the Armory museum, the Diamond Fund, Tsar-cannon and Tsar-bell, Ivan the Great Bellfry etc.
Red Square is located in the center of Moscow. It is sometimes called the heart of Russia.
This is one of the most popular Moscow sights,
visited by millions of travellers. One can see the Kremlin, St. Basil's Cathedral,
Gum department store, the State Historical Museum, Lenin's
Mausoleum, etc.
New Maidens Convent
The Convent was found by Vasiliy III in 1524, in honor of retrieval by Russia of the lands of Smolensk town.
The strategic location in the south-east part of Moscow, near the Moskva river, determined the Monastery also as a fortress
playing a crucial role in important events of the Russian history.
In the cemetery of the Monastery, many famous Russian people are buried.
Tretyakov Gallery
The State Tretyakov Gallery is the national museum of the Russian art of the 10-20th centuries.
It was founded in the 19th century by Russian factory owner Pavel Tretyakov, and now the Gallery is one of the largest museums in Russia.
Cathedral of Christ the Savior
The Cathedral of Christ the Savior is the biggest Orthodox church in Russia. It is a memorial cathedral commemorating
all the soldiers, who died in the wars defending their motherland.
Pushkin Museum
The State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin is on eof the biggest and most significant museums of Russia, located in the
center of Moscow opposite the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The collection numbers more than 560 thousand pieces of Russain and foreign art.
Kolomesnkoye Estate
This is a former residence of Russian Tzars and princes, located in the outskirts of the city.
The oldest building in the Estate is the unique Church of the Ascension, built in 1532, and another
church of the ensemble was a prototype of St. Basil's Cathedral in Red Square.
Moscow Metro
The first line of Moscow metro was opened in 1935 and connected 13 stations.
Nowadays, Moscow metro has 176 stations and is considered to be the most beautiful
in the world. Many of its stations look like palaces and have marble columns,
sculptures, inlays, stained-glass windows and other decorations.
