08:00 - We start this nature tour at your hotel in Petrozavodsk.
Transfer to Kivach Waterfalls and Nature Reserve located in about 90 km from Petrozavodsk.
~09:30 - Upon arrival we observe the Waterfalls, visit the small Museum of Nature
and explore the visitor's area of the Nature Reserve which is opened for general public.
Together with the Reserve specialist we continue with
the eco tour to the preserved areas of Kivach Nature Reserve. Here we have 2 options.
Forest trail. We walk along 3-km long ecological trail.
The trail goes through the pine forest along marshlands and a hidden forest lake.
We learn about plants and animals of Karelia, observe trees, flowers,
lichens, mosses, berries and mushrooms. Among the bird species we may
see ravens and red-throated divers.
Birdwatching trail. We go to the mixed forest where we can spot
many of the bird species inhabiting the area including woodpeckers,
thrushes, tits, pipers, grouses, owls etc.
~13:30 - Leave back to Petrozavodsk.
~14:45 - Return to Petrozavodsk.
