04:30 (06:30) - We start early in the morning from the hotel in Petrozavodsk for a
full day tour to the sacred Valaam Monastery situated on Valaam Island in
the Ladoga Lake. 250 km drive to the town of Sortavala takes about 3-4 hours.
09:00 (11:00) - In Sortavala, a fast boat takes us to Valaam (1 hour ride).
On Valaam we visit the Cathedral of the Transfiguration and small hermitages (sketes),
listen to Valaam choir and taste monastery dishes in the Refectory.
15:00 (17:00) - Boat takes us back to Sortavala, and on the way to Petrozavodsk optional stops can be
made to take pictures of Karelian villages and nature around.
~20:00 (22:00) - Return to Petrozavodsk.
